Cancer Conqueror

http://writingwhat.wordpress.com/2010/05/.

What a blessing! We have accomplished yet another year of  fighting for a cause. My family and friends participated in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday October 1, 2011. My mom is a 2 year cancer conqueror and we rejoiced in her good health, participation in the event and being here on earth with us yet another year. I am so pleased and thankful to have had relatives, co-workers, and friends greet the dawn and support mom. To read more about mom’s journey, just click on the link above.

On another note, there is an upcoming race that is designed to raise funds for research for cancer that occurs below the waist (i.e. prostate, colon, rectal, etc.) This race is so very important to me because my dad is fighting prostate cancer. He also had a battle with ridding the cancer from his body. (And Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56, today).

This is the first year this 5K race will take place in Charlotte and there is a fun twist to it.  It is a pajama race!!! You can actually run in your pj’s. I have already registered my son and I for the race. 100% of the proceeds go toward cancer research. You too can have fun and contribute to this worthy cause. Just click on the link below to get more information and to register for the event.

It is that time of year again for the city of Charlotte. This Saturday, October 2nd, is the 14th annual Race For The Cure. I am running for my mother, potentially myself and for the future. Even if you do not run, please try to find a way to support the cause.
