Archive for December, 2009

This year I have been partial to ASICS. The main reason is because since I have been wearing my ASICS Gel Nimbus-11, I no longer have shin splints, heel spurs or knee pains. I no longer where a knee brace when I run either. Prior to these ASICS, I wore Mizunos. They were also great running shoes, but did not eliminate my body pains. Perhaps I was fitted improperly,,,who knows. But these ASICS have been my BFF this year, due to the superb fitting that I got from a rep at Run For Your Life in the Dilworth are of Charlotte. So,,,look what ASICS has in store for 2010. I hope the new comers are as great.

GREAT NEWS!!!! I won second place for my division in the Hendrick Marrow 5K. Wow, how wonderful and inspirational for me. This win simply continues to push me to train and compete; to reach for my next running goal. It was definitely a self-esteem booster. It also continues to push me to talk about the fun and benefits of running to just about everyone I know, especially children.

Since I did not stick around at the end of the race for the awards ceremony, I was notified by email a week later. Then several  days after, I received a unique trophy in the mail.  Since the race was sponsored by Hendrick Motorsports, the event organizers had the nifty idea that they trophy should be something fitting. Well, my trophy is a replica of a piston. Cute! I also received a free sports bra from Gracie’s Gear. Cool. I am a simple person to please and this made my day.

I cannot believe what I have seen today. A virtual goody bag!

I have been running for many years and registered for a number of races. One of the most intriguing facets of registering was receiving that fun-filled goody bag on race day, laden with Knick-Knacks, coupons for running gear and healthy restaurants, water bottles, lanyards, magnets and the list just goes on and on. Today, however, while checking my email account, I received a nicely, well plotted email with the title “Virtual Goody Bag” connected to the race that I am running on Saturday. I must admit, I was highly impressed when I first received the email and thought, what an awesome idea in helping to save the planet from wasted materials and paper that could potentially destroy our earth. Ingenious! But as the day went on, I began to feel cheated. I want my knick-knacks! Somebody needs to cough up some water bottles and magnets and coupons for me to sift through and keep the things that I enjoy. I still use the pink chapstick from the Race for the Cure. I still use the pink zippered pouch from the Breast Imaging Center.  I got a discount on running shorts from Dicks Sporting Goods. I WANT MY KNICK- KNACKS DAMMIT!!!!!!
